**3D Maze Engine**
3D Maze contest entry @ rpgmaker.chat.ru
Due by 6/1/2001

*Requirements*
RM2K
	4 Common Events Free
	Variables 69-80, 85-100 free
	Pictures 1-9 free
2 Chips, both blocked with one terrain ID 1 and one ID 2 to design the maze with
RTP for footsteps and demo

*Installation*
Simply copy the four common events needed and paste them as common events in your game. Copy the pictures in the 3D maze picture folder to the folder in your game.

*Features*
Provides the hero with a realistic 3x2 view of the maze. He can see left, right, forward, and all of those one space ahead. The UP key will move the character forward. The LEFT key will move the character 90 degrees to the left, and the RIGHT key will move him 90 degrees to the right. The DOWN key will move the hero backwards while facing the same direction. The engine comes with a free compass tool, which can be removed by deleting the fork beneath the note "Uses Hero Face to determine compass" in the Maze Check common event. Oh yeah, the RM2K defaults: the menu is completely compatible and battles are half-way compatible.

*Drawbacks*
Due to the movement system, events activated "At hero touch" are useless. Use events activated by "Common touch" and "Below Hero" only. In the demo items are picked up with "enter" as a "set password" routine. Also due to the movement system, the default step-based random battle engine won't work. You'll need to make a time-based, step-based, or whatever-based random battle engine. Just do something like, say, after a minute the player enters a battle. Also, I'm not sure if it's a drawback or not, but the maze also creates walls that aren't there. Ex, in a four-square of ID 1 terrain, it will look like there is a wall in the middle. It doesn't harm gameplay, though; you can still travel to each of the four squares.

*Maze-Making*
Draw your maze on an ordinary map. Use your blocked chip with ID 1 for moveable areas and ID 2 for walls. Create what events you will want in your maze as ordinary events and use "Show Picture" to display items, monster, etc.

*Customizing GFX*
Edit the GFX I've drawn for you (Don't make new ones unless you're willing to dig in the engine.) and edit them to be the same as before, ex. if it was front block make sure that the end result is a front block. If you don't want to lose the default GFX then just make back-ups, and copy+paste the back-ups into the old ones. If you don't want to do that, you can dig around in the common event "Maze Check" and change the pictures it points to. Or, you could just change the color for the default GFX through RM2K (Also in the Maze Check event, right click and say edit on the desired picture, then click the other attributes and change the color.)

*Rules*
1.) All I ask is for credit! It was a lot of hard work. Just say that Nayno made the 3D maze engine and give out my e-mail. It's not that much, since the engine is free. Oh yeah, and put it somewhere that the players will see it. ;)

2.) Have fun!

Ask about my website... just in case I eventually put it up!

Like the music? It's from Super Metroid for SNES.
